The next couple of missions ended up being pretty nasty so I thought I'd put a break in the sequence and show off something cool I talked about way-back-when.
Here is some jargon I dropped during this video:
IFR = Instrument Flight Rules
ILS = Instrument Landing System
HSI = Horizontal Situational Indicator. It layers location needles on top of the "six pack" default Heading Indicator.
CDI = Course Deviation Indicator (orange needle)
Glideslope Indicator = yellow needle
CRS knob = Course, where you want to be facing eventually, as opposed to Heading where you currently are facing.
VOR = VHF Omni-directional Range.
DME = Distance Measuring Equipment.
Decision Height = the point on the glideslope where the aircraft should be 100ft AGL (in a CAT-II/III approach for a plane equipped with radar altitude sensing, else 200ft for a CAT-I General Aviation approach), when the pilot should look up, be able to see the runway, make the final decision whether or not to land, and switch to manual control.
