52The King’s authority is waning amid widespread unrest. New and mysterious evils have stirred in the realms of the Gorons, the Zora, and the Gerudo, and they have all lost confidence that the King will be able to protect them. The Gorons and Zora have risen up in revolt, with the Gerudo threatening to do the same.
In response, the King has closed the drawbridge to Market Town and the Castle, shutting out the dissidents and furthering division in the land. The Kokiri are cut off in their forest, where no outsider dares to go, but even they can’t escape the growing darkness.
Link’s parents – a retired Hylian soldier and a master swordsmith – grow more and more anxious for the safety of their child. Determined to keep him safe at all costs, they resolve to defeat the evil in each corner of the Kingdom. Maybe that way they can bring the war to an end and restore peace once more. Link’s father volunteers to take the first step, and prepares to make for Death Mountain and the fearsome fire that lies in wait.

Set 10 years before the events of Ocarina of Time, Link’s Prologue tells of two courageous parents caught up in the Hyrulean Civil War, as they fight to protect their young son, Link, from evil on all sides.
