The addition of the Harriers to War Thunder has been one of the highlights of the "New Power" update, though not without some controversy. The Premium Harrier for Britain (the Gr.1) has ruffled quite a few feathers, particularly for players who enjoy arcade and realistic battle modes of the game. A premium aircraft with arguably the best general acceleration in the game AND four SRAAMS is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with, especially when at release its battle rating was only 9.3.

For War Thunder simulator battles the Harrier feels a little bit less OP, if only because top tier is so heavily compressed that you have F4-Phantoms fighting Me-163 Komets and Gloster Meteors...

That being said they are a joy to fly! In VR the cockpits of the Harriers are wonderful to behold, and you feel completely immersed (especially if you do a VTOL takeoff from a carrier!).

Overall both the British and the US Harriers are comprehensively equipped with a variety of ordnance, though I personally feel that the British ones got the better deal - as they should ;)

A lot of people say the Gr.1 is overpowered, and honestly I am inclined to agree. With the current set up of the game, a Harrier equipped with 4 SRAAMS is complete overkill for anything below its current battle rating.

Top tier just got a lot more interesting (read: worse).
