NFS World launched in 2010 as the first free to play and multiplayer only Need for Speed game, but at the time, the reviews were mixed. The game, while being fun, was unfortunately brought down by it's microtransactions, and the game shut down for good in 2015.
In 2017, a fan made project, called Soapbox Race World released, preserving the original feel of Need For Speed World, but cutting away all the pay to win problems. You should totally check Soapbox Race World out, it's fantastic!
