i read one piece up to just after the timeskip when i was a young lad. i remember thinking it was alright, but i'd probably hate it in current year. frankly i remember fuck all about it. i'd imagine if i were to go back and read the entire series it wouldn't give me much value only insofar as it would contribute to my belief that length of a work does not ever equate to quality and can often end up being to the detriment of a series when it appears as egregiously as having like literally over a thousand episodes of an anime and however the fuck many volumes of a manga. whenever something overstays it's welcome in any situation it never ends up going well. prime exhibit 'a' as seen in another (leagues better) ching chong cartoon: fist of the north star going to complete shit after raoh dies. obviously it was not at all the fault of hara and buronson, but holy shit, post-timeskip hokuto is fucking terrible. executives at shonen jump didn't want to lose their golden goose, and part of me wonders if that is exactly what is happening with one piece in current day. save for the fact that, in this situation, the executives had made the author aware in advance that they don't want the series to end any time soon so that they don't end the story like hokuto did and end up having to continue it from the natural point of conclusion. raoh's death and ken returning to the wasteland with yuria is the fucking perfect ending to a great series but the timeskip ruins that.
anyways, i'm not super in the mood to talk about chinese cartoons. at the present moment writing this, i find myself quite distracted by a terrible pain in my right foot which is shooting itself up my entire leg. shit sucks. i believe it is most likely from the boots i wear - i don't like shoes or sneakers, they suck - being too narrow for my feet. guess i can't complain seeing as, at the end of the day, these boots are literally just some amazon chinkshit that i bought for cheap. sizing differences between countries is always really interesting to me whenever i buy shit from anywhere outside of canada (india 2: revenge of the street shitter) because it's just so funny.
like, an american large is the equivalent of a canadian xl and 2xl. is that not just fucking hilarious? i'm used to wearing shit that is too big for me since most of my wardrobe still consists of pass-downs from my grandfather who was a fucking giant guy, but american sizes are legit larger that some of those.
east asian sizes are a lot closer to canadian sizes with negligible differences that are only really noticable in the shoulders. small wonder that americans have a reputation on the internet for being fat fucks, lmao. guess it's better than having your country be known for getting an influx of non-english speaking immigrants under a government system which isn't even trying to hide the fact that all of it is preformative arts. at least america larps as professionals so that they don't get shitcanned (killed) by the elite, over here it's just so obvious that everyone playing their role is just grossly inept in all regards. i talked two weeks ago - in the tails video, if i recall - about how all politics is effectively preformative arts and all things that we see play out as reality are already predetermined long before such is played out, so if you're wondering what i'm talking about, it's that. canada is just a fucking joke of a country now and the cities are getting progressively worse. some of them were always bad, yeah, but it's getting comical now.
there was this one fucking hilarious webm i saw of some naked indian guy jacking off while standing on top of someone's car, reportedly in brampton, who then tries to break in to the house of the person filming. i think that sums up current-year canada pretty well, eh?
i guess it's not like anywhere else in the english-speaking world is much better. ireland has been fucked for decades, england is on about the same path that we are, austrailia is gay in their own upside-down way, and america isn't even on the table because they're past the point of no return. ain't it just wacky how some of the pillars of modern society are slowly being eroded in very similar ways?
before we get too schizophrenic for youtube, i'll refrain from continuing with that line of questioning.
people who try to redeem modern canada harp on about how great free healthcare is but honestly, unless you're dying and you have priority care, it's not super beneficial. especially when you take in to consideration the fact that most people don't really use it often or at all, you're basically just throwing your money in to a hole where you probably won't ever get to reap the benefits of it.
