The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate says the federal government is aware of the numerous challenges in the healthcare sector and is open to a unified approach to address them.

The Minister said this at the
50th National Delegation Conference of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria held in Abuja.

Pate who was represented by Dr. Okpikpi Okpapo recognized the significant hurdles that healthcare professionals and the system face, including the widespread "JAPA Syndrome," which sees skilled workers migrating abroad in search of better opportunities saying efforts are on to tackle them head on.

The Minister also emphasized the need to strengthen policies as well as foster an environment where health care professionals are empowered and well supported.

Meanwhile, the National president of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Dr Kabiru Minjibir highlighted some of the issues bedeviling the health sector and urged the government to do the needful.

The meeting represents a significant step toward addressing the ongoing challenges within the country's healthcare sector as the union continues to navigate the complexities of worker welfare, healthcare infrastructure, and policy reform.
