The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will host a 2 day First Africa Regional Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education to enhance access to higher education for people with disabilities.

JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede gave the indication at a world press conference in Abuja.

Oloyede who said the Board through the Equal Opportunity Group has been at the forefront of ensuring that persons with disabilities are provided with a level playing field in accessing higher education, expressed optimism that the conference will provide the platform to address critical challenges and explore innovative solutions that will help bridge the gap in educational access for PWDs.

The JAMB Registrar further highlighted various initiatives by the Board aimed at promoting inclusivity within the education sector including specialized testing centers for PWDs.

In his remarks, the Executive Director ,The Abino Foundation Africa Jake Ekpele commended the initiative and the Board support for inclusive education.

The Regional conference with the theme " Advancing the Potentials of Persons with Disabilities on Educational and Economic development" is expected to attract participants from Ethiopia, Malawi, Egypt and other African countries.
