We Need To Talk About Dr. Who and the Daleks & Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 | The Big Daddy D Reviews
12Last year, your favourite Middle Aged Movie Boys covered both of the movies in two separate episodes of "We Need To Talk About ...". Seeing as the films are being thrust back into cinemas as a double bill, we've decided to have a single video featuring a double bill of both of our reviews together.
For the first film, 'Doctor Who and the Daleks', released in 1965, this broke all kinds of Doctor Who rules; he's human and not a Timelord, he invented the Tardis rather than stole it and his name ACTUALLY is Doctor Who. However, all of that paled in comparison with the fact that the legendary Peter Cushing was in the role! Despite it's questionable canon and it's ambiguity, this film is well worth a watch - and we'll explain why! We'll also spend some time talking about the small film studio, Amicus Productions, that produced the 60's Doctor Who movies along with a look over EC Comics and the early days of William Hartnell's era of Doctor Who.
And then from there we'll talk about the sequel, the rather busily titled 'Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD'. This time, the angry silver pepper pots are on the very streets of London itself, enslaving or exterminating squirming humans, as part of a plot to turn the very planet itself into a spaceship ... something that Star Wars would steal the idea of, many years later!
With a much bigger budget this time ... mainly thanks to a certain sugary-based breakfast cereal chucking them a few quid for some blatant product placement ... how does this second big screen adventure of our favourite time travelling hero compare to the first film?
We'll also a take a look at the differences between the film and television versions of this storyline, as well an extensive look over the cast, which has a number of familiar faces!
And if that wasn't enough, Luke is on hand to read you a bedtime story!
