Wearable haptic feedback devices are the next frontier in gaming peripherals. PCs and consoles already fully engage our eyes and our ears, but our sense of touch is almost totally ignored. Haptic feedback provides users a whole new level of immersion - it provides a "sixth sense" within the game that we could only dream of having in real life. Although most effort in haptics has been in simulating what you would feel in the real world, tactile feedback is actually ideal for delivering information because it doesn't further tax our visual or auditory systems. This presentation will cover how haptics can be used both for simulation and for information delivery, and will showcase the wearable haptic technology we're developing.
