WedSNESday: Let's Play A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES)
To kick off Horror Month 2017, the NPCs are playing games based off of horror fiction! Matt & Luke dig deep into the NES backlog to find the NES adaptation of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" - where they play a narcoleptic teen with a mean right hook, traveling up and down the eponymous Elm Street looking for open doors so that they can get inside and collect bones, all while being assaulted by bats & snakes, that turn into skull headed bats & wolves for some reason when he slips into nightmarish slumber.

A Nightmare on Elm Street is one of many films-come-NES games from the late '80s and early '90s. Released in October of 1990, the player must control one of up to 4 ordinary teenagers, looking for the bones of Freddy Krueger so that they can burn them in the school's furnace and put an end to the nightmare-haunting ghost. It is a respectably solid platformer, with an innovative "Sleep meter" that depletes over time, after which point the player characters fall asleep and must travel through a nightmare version of the world, where monsters are significantly powered-up.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
