WedSNESday: Let's Play Friday the 13th (NES)
This week on WedSNESday, Luke is joined by horror movie buff Andrew as the two of them tour an 8-bit Camp Crystal Lake in the 1988 NES action-adventure horror game, "Friday the 13th" by LJN and Atlus. It's a lot of dodging zombies and poking around mostly empty cabins as Luke tries to light all the fireplaces in the camp, all while avoiding wasting time needlessly in saving campers - probably not the best idea, but it's a 15-minute show...

Friday the 13th is another of a handful of late-'80s horror film based action gamesthat saw brief popularity in the later NES era. In Friday the 13th, the game puts the player in the shoes of one of 6 camp counselors, jogging around Camp Crystal lake attempting to achieve a set of objectives that will ultimately allow them to defeat the iconic Jason Voorhees and head home alive at the end of the night. Featuring synthesized "screams" of frightened children and zombies, crows, and cadaver-spitting lakes, it's a weird interpretation, that's wholly representative of the horror movie game genre.
WedSNESday is the Level 0 NPCs weekly series where we play one older game for one episode, just to relive the nostalgia and maybe make your hump day just a little bit more fun.
