WedSNESday: Let's Play The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang
For the first episode of WedSNESday for the new year, Matt & Luke are playing the Twisted Tales of Spike McFang, a cult classic SNES action-RPG, where Luke controls the eponymous Spike McFang, a young Vampire on a mission of unknown importance. With only 15 minutes to play, Luke only makes it most of the way through the tutorial, but it's a delightful, quirky and fun little game that's sure to entertain.
The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang was released in 1993 in Japan by Naxat Soft, developed by Bullet-Proof software and Red Company. It follows the story of a young Vampire aristocrat who is asked for aid by his friend Camelia in defending his and her kingdoms against the zombie hordes of Van Helser. It features a top-down action-RPG style in a similar vein to Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It is whimsical and very cartoon-stylized, but offers challenging gameplay aimed at a younger audience.
