8It's WedSNESday! Let's Play Wario's Woods! The last NES game ever made by Nintendo, where you play the unnamed sociopath hero of the Mushroom Kingdom (Toad) invading the woods of everyone's second-favorite Bizarro-world Mario character, Wario (Everybody's favorite, obviously, being Waluigi). Matt & Luke are joined for Wario's Woods by Alex, making his debut appearance on Level 0 NPCs!

Wario's Woods was released in 1994 for both NES and SNES, and is distinct in that it was the final NES game ever released by Nintendo, having been well into the product lifecycle of its successor, the SNES, and the first and only NES game to have an ESRB rating. It stars Toad (Referred to only as the Mushroom Kingdom Hero), marching upon and destroying the former inhabitants of the Peaceful Woods, after Wario supposedly transformed them into monstrous forms, at the behest of the fairy Wanda and her sprite kin.
Mechanically, Wario's Woods is a match-3 falling block puzzle game, distinct from other games in the genre in that the player is a present entity in the game, that actively rearranges the game world in order to build lines of enemies and bombs, or gems, in order to destroy all living creatures on screen before moving onward.
