What Game Engine Should I Use?
Long story short the better question is what kind of game do you want to make? Each engine has its pros and cons and learning as many as possible as a beginner can give you a big advantage. When you understand what one engine CAN do and another engine CANNOT and try to ask yourself why this is, you can learn to see each engine in ways you might not have before.
In this tutorial I go over 4 engines with free versions available: Unreal Engine, Godot, Unity and GameMaker.
I make a big claim in this video: That Godot will become the industry standard (At least for Indie Devs) - the way it's growth looks to me is very similar to that of Blender which if not has that mantle in the 3D animation space, it is at least a very close contender. I can easily see Godot following a similar path, growing faster and faster as it starts to become more of a viable solution for developers.
