What Happens After 'The Bomb'?
330The 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) Command's Nuclear Disablement Team is a specialized unit within the United States Army that is responsible for responding to nuclear incidents and disabling or rendering safe nuclear devices or materials.
The purpose of the team is to mitigate the effects of a nuclear incident, prevent the spread of radioactive materials, and protect the safety of civilians and military personnel. This team is trained in the use of specialized equipment and techniques to detect, identify, and neutralize nuclear threats, such as improvised nuclear devices, dirty bombs, or nuclear materials in unauthorized possession.
The Nuclear Disablement Team works in close coordination with other government agencies, such as the Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as international partners to enhance global nuclear security and prevent nuclear terrorism.
