It is really surprising that Yoshi's Island was programmed with boss interactions with items, as opposed to either completely glitching out and or crashing the game, and or not interacting with boss elements at all. Wonder why this was done, possibly as a sanity check and fail-safe measure, or because the bosses were designed first then they disabled items?
