From April 12 to April 28th Back Lane Studios in the Roncesvalles area in Toronto, I presented a show called 'what', that featured paintings and media art that I have produced over the past decade and particularly within the past six years focusing on material drawn from High Park. The centerpiece of the show was an interactive installation called 'High Park Branches' featuring proportionally accurate computer generated 3D models of branches that I found randomly lying on the ground in High Park over the past half year. Through participant interaction, the branches were scattered about by winds in a virtual environment. The results after a session of interaction were then made into prints, paintings, and audio albums (see links below). You can see the final results on the largest wall in the gallery. This video offers a brief demonstration of the installation in action. The audio results have been released as many different albums on my Bandcamp page.
The software was written by me in C++ using OpenFrameworks, the audio was handled by SuperCollider, the 3D modelling was done in Blender, and the sensor used was a Kinect.
