High Park Blobs Extreme Hyper Blobs

Summary video of the HPBEHB project.
During the pandemic I spent a lot of time in High Park. This is one project I had been meaning to embark on for a long time. The visuals are 3D models - the same kind that you see in the EHB project - hand made 'clumpages' created in Blender and exported to three.js. What you see on the video are screen captures from my website so these are apps written in Javascript and using three.js. I chose a number of locations in High Park and made audio recordings and took photos in all directions (a rudimentary way of taking a sphere photo - this is before I knew there was such a thing). The photos were then used as environment map which are reflected by the 3D hyperblobs. The audio recordings that accompany the photos are from the same locations. I then added an interactive form of audio composition using Supercollider and that has been overlaid on the field recording. The notes are generated by simply pressing one key on the keyboard. A random number generator is running continuously, as opposed to just being called when a note is triggered, so when the key is pressed, wherever the random number generator is at the moment, that value is assigned as a note frequency. The difference between having the generator running continuously or only being called when pressing a key is a subtle and possibly irrelevant distinction but I employ it in an effort to circumnavigate a conventional use of random number generators - perhaps it is even more random by using it like this. Regardless, the difference is really just psychological/spiritual. The notes, as triggered by human action, serve as a form of reading. While listening to the field recordings and taking in the visuals the participant is affected by them and that is reflected in their actions - no matter what the actions are. So it is in that way a document of the listener's and viewer's experience of the material and can be analyzed as such.
