The Japanese have always been a people driven by the concept of honor. It stems back to their traditional Samurai origins, something that began to die off after the end of World War II. At least, some of the practices of the Samurai that is, as Samurai continued to exist thereafter, just on a more internal level than external. During this time, the Japanese had a concept known as Harakiri. Harakiri was for the Samurai Warriors who had brought disgrace upon themselves and their family names by breaking certain rules, betraying their master, or something of the similar. What Harakiri did was reclaim honor for yourself and your family name at the expense of your own life. The Samurai warrior would be forced to do this themselves, though on some occasions of minor infractions, someone would be there to end the pain quickly. For major infractions, the Samurai was forced to do this themselves with nobody there, and to suffer the pain until eventually their body gave out. Frankly, I’m glad this tradition no longer exists, because it is better to regain honor and live, than to die where honor will help you very little. The saddest thing though was that this act of love brought only pain and suffering to Kakashi, something Sakumo acknowledged and apologized for during his and Kakashi’s time in limbo during Pain’s assault on the Leaf. It’s important to understand why Sakumo did the things he did if we’re going to change that. So, now that we’re all squared up, I think we’re about ready to begin. But first,
