What is iOS 16.4.1 (a) Update? New Rapid Security Response is available to all iPhone models
Apple released iOS 16.4.1 (a), the company's first iPhone Rapid Security Response update, on Monday. It is a first-of-its-kind security update that you need to apply to your iPhone now. That’s because iOS 16.4.1 (a) is a security-only upgrade containing important fixes for serious iPhone vulnerabilities.
Rapid Security Response updates are a new type of device update Apple introduced alongside iOS 16.2 in December. According to Apple, Rapid Security Response updates provide users with important security fixes, and they can help mitigate security issues that are being actively exploited or have been reported.
To download the update, go to Settings - General - Software Update, tap Install Now. I've already installed the iOS 16.4.1 (a) update on my iPhone SE 2020.
Apple hasn’t provided any details about what was fixed in iOS 16.4.1 (a)—even its support page remains empty of the basic descriptions the iPhone maker usually supplies when it issues a patch.
