What Mario Maker 2 Taught Me About Game & Level Design
My Super World/Maker ID:

Before Nintendo announced the World Maker update for Super Mario Maker 2, it had long been my dream to create my own kind of Super Mario "world." I began making such levels in 2020, and while my levels weren't "bad," some of them still felt a bit off, and so I got burned out on making my world after making around 30 levels or so.
After the World Update, I was inspired to pick up level making again, and so I set out to finally fulfill my wish of creating my own Super World in July 2022. Now, over three years later, I'm comfortable with saying it's complete. A full 40-stage world set in the theme of Super Mario Bros. 3.
I learned a lot in the process of designing these levels, and although there are still certain things I'd want to change, I'm happy enough to share it with others as well as some of the insights I've come to in the process of designing my own levels.
Much of these levels wouldn't be as complete as they are without feedback from the numerous streamers who've playtested my levels over the years, too many to individually remember, so I want to extend my heartfelt thanks.
I'd also like to thank those who took the time to play my levels on stream and allow me to record it and use the footage. Those individuals are:
