Single players have seen a lot of change in recent years. Some triple A publishers have lessened the amount of single player we get in favor of more complete multiplayer experiences while others have opted for the open world where they can add in a lot more stuff for ongoing services.

With the recent shutdown of Visceral and the pivoting of the Star Wars linear experience, we discuss what could be happening with single player games in the triple A space. We still have indie games delivering great story experiences but will we see it be just open world single player games going forward or will something else emerge entirely?
