Small addendum: Phials actually do to be follow affinity on your weapon, and can crit even if the strike that landed them did not. Crit boost also applies, as does critical element (but critical element on the phials in particular does not seem to be boosting the elemental portion of the phial damage very much).

Also apparently all switch axes get a little juice back when they amp up whoops.
