Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game (4vs1) developed by Behaviour Digital Inc. and is published by Starbreeze Studios. in June 2016, Microsoft Windows released Dead by daylight and in November 2017 it came out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. One player takes on the role of the Killer, and the other four players take on the roles of Survivors. The goal for the Survivors' is to escape from the map, while the Killer's goal is to kill as many survivors as possible.
Dead by Daylight is set in an enclosed area (called a trial), where the map is filled with various objects and decorations with particular themes to them. Within the maps there might be buildings, cars, and trees that the survivors can hide behind. The Survivors are tasked with escaping from the map while the Killer tries to hunt them down and kill them. Each Killer in Dead by Daylight, has their own unique abilities and playstyles. There are also multiple Survivors, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. These advantages are usually in the form of perks or addons that you can equip to the different survivors or killer.
The Survivors can also find various items scattered around the map to help them in their escape. These items include flashlights to see in the dark, med kits to heal themselves, and maps to help them navigate the area. There are also interactable objects such as crates, totems, and pallets which can help the survivors escape.
The game features a unique "three strikes and your out" death system that allows players that get caught by the killer three attempts per match to escape. Once the survivor has been caught three times then they are permanently dead for that match. This system encourages players to take risks and makes every matches tense and exciting.
