When Russian SU-27 Tried To Shoot Down RAF RC-135 Spy Plane In 2022 #shorts
On September 29, 2022, while conducting reconnaissance over the Black Sea, an RAF RC-135 with an onboard crew of up to 30 came into contact with two Russian SU-27 fighters. Normally, such interceptions end peacefully, but that day the Russian pilot literally locked the RAF plane and launched the missile at it. As RC-135 Rivet Joint is equipped with cutting-edge sensors to intercept communications, they found something shocking. The ground station controller literally said, "You have the target," as two Russian SU-27 Flankers intercepted the RAF spy plane. And one of the Russian pilots took this as permission to fire. The air-to-air missile, then unleashed by the Russian pilot, made it into orbit but, thankfully, was unable to latch onto its intended target and missed the aircraft. The second pilot confronted his fellow comrade regarding the launch, yet he launched another missile, and this missile fell from the wing, but fortunately malfunctioned. The Russian Ministry of Defense called this incident a "technical malfunction." After this near shoot down incident, armed Typhoon fighters have escorted these RAF surveillance flights.
