Where to Find the Dark Amethyst - Baldur's Gate III [Guide]
5The Dark Amethyst item is needed to open The Necromancy of Thay (without outside help or just flatout destroying it). This is in the Whispering Depths on the west side (X:-563 Y:-355).
There's two ways to enter the Whispering Depths: the locked gate at the entrance to the Blighted Village, or the Well. The Well goes towards more enemy fights (though it's not too difficult). The Dark Amethyst is near a level 5 Phase Spider Mother boss, so you'll likely want to use Stealth to go grab it.
Depending on where the Mother Spider is will determine your path down, so just pay attention to where she is!
Note: If you choose to open the Necromancy of Thay you'll probably want to save, as you have to succeed in multiple Wisdom checks to get all the way through the process!
