Who is Zagreus in Greek mythology? So Hades 2 is out but i never covered the original so here is the rundown on what happens in the original hades and who is zagreus in greek mythology. In Hades the game Zagreus is the son of Hades and Persephone who was the queen of the underworld until she left to live in the human realm and Zagreus feeling lost in the underworld wanted to follow her and find answers to who he truly is and that's all I'm going to spoil about the game but Zagreus has a rich history that I wanted to cover. Zagreus in real Greek mythos is a beast who is often compared to Hades in strength and in some cases thought to be Hades himself but there are also versions of his story where he isn’t the son of Hades but the son of Zues and Persephone. In this version Zeus took Zagreus to Olympus and gave him thunderbolts, essentially naming him as his heir. Then Hera the queen of Olympus made the Titans lure Zagreus away with toys in order to dismember and eat him, yeah greek mythos weird.
