►Riptale Gameplay Overview
Riptale is a challenging 2D action roguelike aiming to make sword combat be as bloody and impactful as possible. The player collects gems that allow him to execute different attacks that have to be aimed manually. If the player hits an enemy there is a short slo-mo time during which the player can aim at another target. Successful hit rips the enemies apart leaving only blood and body parts flying on the screen. Killing enemies has never felt more rewarding.
The attacks are powered by arcane gems which make them powerful enough to bring down the ancient dragons threatening the world. Each gem takes a few moments to recharge, which means the attacks must be planned carefully lest they run out at the worst possible moment. Luckily if the player is able to connect with each attack all gems are immediately recharged allowing slicing and dicing to continue.
Killing enemies yields gold and chaining hits into multi-kills and combos yields extra gold. If the player can find a shop he can upgrade his gems into better ones and customise the attacks to fit his play style. There are gems that perform a triple attack, double-side attack and the infamous zig-zag-like saw attack. All this results in a symphony of combos that fill the screen with blood and guts. If Riptale was a board game it would shoot scissors at you.
In addition to killing enemies the player can complete challenges, explore libraries for game lore, find ancient runes that affect the gameplay in mysterious ways, defeat bosses and try to unlock pets and trinkets.
