"Why Am I So Tired?" Trauma-Based View Of Racial Battle Fatigue - Psychotherapy Crash Course
Trauma is often defined as a terrible event that outweighs a child’s (or adult's) ability to cope (National Child Traumatic Stress Network, 2015).
This inability to cope often leads to mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and even personality disorders such as borderline personality disorder, narcissism, or avoidant personality.
Anything that occurs, in chronic fashion, in one's environment can lead to a trauma response, even if only temporary. A trauma response can include what I talk about in this video on the nervous system: https://youtu.be/ghbPyM4RWOE.
But it can also look like PTSD, burnout, and compassion-fatigue.
In this video, I take a sociological concept (Racial Battle Fatigue) and show you it's psychological relevance to trauma-informed care.
I welcome your comments, experience, and questions.
