Fan games have always been a touchy subject in the gaming community. Devs most certainly hate them because it violates the copyright, but fans love them, in fact, some are so good that they look official. Games like Pokémon Uranium, Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R) and Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes come to mind. In this video, I make the claim that there is no ethical issues (separate from the legal ones) with making these games and that they serve to inspire young game developers and enlighten us as to what a community wants.
