Having any kind of negative life experience can make you feel powerless.
Being exposed to trauma, living life with a controlling and unhealthy loved one or spouse, and struggling with social injustices can all result in trauma and emotional disturbance. But that doesn't mean that these experiences have to control the rest of your life.

Sometimes healing trauma involves accepting the paradoxes that fill our lives.

I'm sure you have asked yourself, as I have in the past, "why is my life a paradox?" You may not have used these specific words but I'm sure you have had questions about your life and the philosophy of existence. Many of you may not know this but I studied philosophy, religion, and psychology in college as well as graduate school and maintain my practice under the principles of existential psychotherapy.

It's only when you learn how to live with the uncertainties, gray areas, and rough patches or complete traumas in life that you can find some healing. Life isn't always "what we make it." Life happens to us and we don't always have a choice. Although I live my life on the principles of Faith and Christianity, there are even paradoxes here and I've had to grapple with that over the years. In fact, we ALL do!

In this video, I take you on a short journey of exploring your own life's paradoxes and offer you tips on how to cope.
