This bug was fixed in Outer Wilds 1.12, although the proxy sun atmosphere is still off. There's a mod to fix it though: https://outerwildsmods.com/mods/vanillafix/

I tried downpatching to version 1.10 to check for the proxies being implemented yet but they were still there. That's the oldest version available on the Steam betas section so I couldn't test any pre-DLC versions. I vaguely recall proxy planets being added around the time Echoes of the Eye came out though, but not entirely sure.

I didn't explicitly say it in the video but the way I fixed the far clipping issues in the new planet mods was to just implement the same proxy planet fix from the base game.
