Why Is Transformers War for Cybertron Loved?
With Transformers Rise of the Beasts coming out later this year I wanted to play Transformers War for Cybertron for the first time. In this retrospective review I explore the development history behind the game, the gameplay mechanics, and story that gave us a background on characters like Optimus Prime who we have grown to love. Drawing on lore from Transformers Beast Wars, Transformers G1 and Transformers War Within, the game hoped to establish a more cohesive backstory that old fans of the franchise would appreciate. War for Cybertron broke the trend of bad Transformers video game releases and showed the world that the franchise can produce high quality stand alone games and not just movie tie-ins.
