Why Joker 2 FAILED: #joker
1,510Joker 2 was an absolute disaster: Both in the Box office and in the ratings:
The first Joker was the first Rated R Movie in film history to cross 1 billion dollars worldwide, that’s billion with a B.
This sequel hardly cracked 38 million, that is a falloff of 962 million.
Why did this flop in the box office? That’s easy:
First and foremost the original movie wrapped up it’s final act so well that it simply did not need a sequel,
Secondly when they announced the sequel as a musical, from a marketing perspective alone that is complete tonal whiplash. Basically no one asked for this.
As for the ratings: The original joker across the board received high praise, this one the total opposite. Both critics and the fans hated this movie.
Aside for that the movie has no idea who the film is made for. They could have very easily played it safe and gave us a fun Bonnie and Clyde type film, instead we got wet underwear.
