In his eyes, the true mark of a man is how well they face up to adversity, with the most respectable characters being the ones who refuse to buckle under hardship. There’s no truer example of a person purposely taking the most difficult path in pursuit of their own philosophies in the entire Yakuza series than Daisaku Kuze. In fact, Kuze claims he joined the Yakuza not to punch down on men weaker than him, but to beat on guys that’re stronger.
