Welcome back to another video! In this video, I will discuss the fear Sony has regarding the looming threat that Microsoft will acquire Activision Blizzard. There is no doubt that if Microsoft is indeed successful in this acquisition, they will easily become the dominant publisher in the video game industry; however, Microsoft has not been greedy throughout this process. The obvious game in which Sony is primarily concerned about is Call of Duty…and rightfully so! Call of Duty is the dominant first person shooter in modern gaming, and sales of this game are through the roof year after year. Microsoft has publicly stated that as long as Call of Duty exists, the IP will remain on multiple platforms…which is extremely generous in my view considering that, if Microsoft is successful in this acquisition, they are the company opening their checkbooks...no one else. They deserve to do what they want with something they paid for. I will also discuss the future of Destiny now that Bungie has been acquired by Playstation Studios. I don't recall Microsoft having an issue with this, considering Bungie developed Microsoft's flagship IP, Halo. Microsoft has been open and honest throughout this entire process, and Sony will stop at nothing to stop this acquisition in fear of losing whatever means of control they currently have of the Call of Duty IP.
