Visual Description: A woman addresses the camera. She has brown hair worn in a braid, and wears clear-rimmed eyeglasses that help her to see. She wears a dusty red prairie revival-style dress. There's a curtain closed over a window in the background.

Description: I decided to make a video and talk about why the executive order on passports is a big deal in a bad way. I dislike how it's specifically making life harder for one subsection of the population. It feels targeted and marginalizing/unequal. I don't like how it could potentially cause issues with trans people's ability to travel. I also don't like how the M or F could accidentally end up outing trans people who are passing. Given the current political situation in the United States, I am worried that this could leave trans folks at greater risk of harassment, or worse, hate-motivated crimes.

Trans people are people too. It's important to speak out when the government targets any subsection of the population. For as the old "first they came for" poem goes, if we don't speak up for others, there'll be no one left to speak out for us when we're the ones getting targeted by government actions.

If you'd like to read the full text of the executive order, it can be found here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/ Be forewarned: it is very hurtful, transphobic, and propagandistic.
