#Emulation #Ultrawide #Multitasking #pointless

After explaining the use of my Ultra-wide Monitor with a couple of Vice C64 Emulator windows in an older video I decided to kick it up a notch... Why not have the C64 Emulator windows run inside of other operating systems running in various emulators shown. A little too much? Of course, besides in reality real hardware really is more interesting!

And no the answer is just not "because I can" - there was actually some genuine interest and thinking involved...

My video editing rig got upgraded a while back, a RTX 3060Ti (for MSRP +40 or 50 euros I believe, before the weird Crypto craze happened. I guess I was a lucky one. Would NEVER buy one at the current ridiculous prices. And also an Ryzen9 3900X sporting 12 Cores and 24 threads - I believe similar or even higher than the first Threadripper AMD CPUs out there.
How to max out the CPU? How to max out the screen real estate apart from having this huge time line while editing videos? Well by multitasking as many applications use one thread or only a couple.

Maxing out the system by running Windows98, Voodoo3 emulation 100%, MacOS 8.5/9.22 100%, BeOS R5 x86 100%, OS X 10.4 Tiger 100% and MS-DOS (Pentium MMX 166Mhz 100%) full speed and capturing it all on the videocard while also blending in some narration with a non recording OBS instance all running on the same machine Windows 10 Pro 64bit....

It did NOT max out the system at all. Multithreaded applications like Video editing software and or rendering really works well as they can utilize all the threads / or many of the threads well. This setup is wonderfully equipped for single machine Streaming if I am inclined to do so. But a separate system (screen mouse keyboard separate from the main one - can be done on the same system using a separate screen and a VM polling the mouse and keyboard) It's all possible.

Going Hypervizor, virtualization crazy with this one and have Linux, Windows 10 instances running side by side on the same hardware using different cores/threads is a possibility. Need more than 32Gb of RAM and of course the CPU would be under much heavier load..... going a bit Level1 Tech on it then... not sure if I want to though....

Host system:
Ryzen9 3900X, 32Gb 3200Mhz DDR4, RTX 3060Ti, Samsung 49" Ultra-wide Ultra low latency screen (144Hz)

Simultaneously running clients:
PCemv17: PII233, Voodoo3 / Mobile PentiumMMX 300, Voodoo3 - Windows98 and BeOS R5 x86
Sheepshaver: MacOS 8.5
DOSBox-X: MS-DOS 6.22
QEMU: PPC G4, AGP Framebuffer, OSX 10.4 Tiger PPC & MacOS 9.22 Classic Environment
