FastDoom (Doom 1.9) Running Potato Style On CGA (Color, BW), EGA, ASCII Text mode - Tuesday Waffle
#MiSTer Doom bit starts after the waffle at timestamp 00:19:26
A waffle, demonstration and gameplay video featuring #FastDoom which is a Doom port for DOS, optimized to be as fast as possible for 386/486 personal computers even using CGA, EGA, Hercules graphics cards. It even has a text mode ASCII version!
😢 Mind you for this Fast Doom to be as fast and lean as possible networking and joystick support was removed from this port, so for networked doom you need to original game.
The hardware used in this video -
a #FPGA PC OA486 core running on MiSTer implementing
- 486DX90 (Cyrix)
- SB16
- Tseng4000 ISA
Windows 95B OS200
X15 Powkiddy Android PSP/Vita clone
GPD Handheld Nintendo DSi XL form factor with twin analog sticks
Retroflag GPI Raspberry Pi Zero Gameboy clone
In the video I also show quick snippets of other cores running on the MiSTer platform. It's quite versatile.
