As far as being a beginner in software development, choosing a language to build your knowledge from can be pretty difficult. When I started to get into coding, I was very unfamiliar with the landscape of languages in which the internet and most software was build upon.

That's why I'm recommending that if you choosing to begin a career in programming, or simply wish to take up programming as a hobby, you should begin by learning Python. I personally recommend this language for many reasons however I think the underlying point here is that, it isn't too hard to learn but you can do a lot with it.

Python is good choice if you've tried to get into coding before and struggled, it was most likely you had a bad class or were taught by an impatient teacher who did not encourage a growth mindset to learning. Anyone can learn to be a programmer with the right mindset.

Why you should choose Python as your first Language:

1. The syntax is easy to understand.

2. You can create powerful programs with little code.

3. The amount of libraries available is huge.

4. Many modern applications use Python.

5. It is a language that will remain useful for many years to come.

6. You do not need much to get running with Python.

7. There is tons of documentation and resources out there for learning Python.

8. It will help you understand how to program and write in other languages.

9. Debugging and fixing errors is much easier due to simpler error messages.

10. It is simple enough for a beginner to learn, yet powerful enough to become extremely useful after only learning it for a short time.

11. The uses are endless.

12. If you want to get into data science, Python will be a language you use.

13. Even if you are not a programmer, many physicists and mathematicians use Python in their work.

14. It can help you to configure pre-existing desktop programs that use Python.

15. Tons of tools to get started, atom, IDE's, VS Code, notepad++, IDLE etc.
