Last week in Sydney, a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed while waiting for his school bus. He was shot by other teenagers. Another victim of another random act of violence. In Australia's towns and cities it is becoming all too common. Crime figures show that every hour of every day fifteen people are assaulted in Australia. Overwhelmingly the victims AND the offenders are young men. Frighteningly, bashings are so commonplace that many teenagers don't even bother reporting them to the police. As Peter Overton reports, attacks are not only accepted they are expected.
