Wii Party U - Looking Into The "Player Not Ready" Glitch For Some Minigames
This glitch was discovered 2 years ago by @Vafy123
All credit goes to him for being the first to discover this glitch. This caught my interest ever since I watched a video of this glitch softlocking the game, which made me want to give this a try. This is called the "Player Not Ready" glitch since that was the name that was given. This is still new, so this is pretty much what I know how this glitch works.
To make this glitch work is really tricky because it requires frame perfect timing. When starting the minigame, press + to pause the minigame at exactly 1 frame before the pop-up message that tells all players to press A to start the minigame. If done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, but the minigame in the background will play instead of pause. The timing is very tight.
What originally happens without the glitch is that the minigame pauses in the background, and the pop-up message will appear to tell all players to press A or 2 to start the minigame.
If the glitch is done correctly, you will still see the pop-up message that tells all players to press A or 2 to start the minigame, but the minigame in the background will not be paused. That means you will still hear everything that goes on in the background, like crowd cheers or other background noises. I will explain below the minigames I picked and why they are pretty interesting to be shown for this glitch.
Jumping Target - This one is good to start off with to show how the glitch works. If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. A majority of the minigames will not start until all players press A to start the game, even if you do the glitch.
Run to the Sun - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. You can hear just the background sound effect of this minigame, which sounds pretty cool.
Recipe Recall - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. The message of "Remember the vegetables the chef is putting in the basket" appears behind the pop-up message, but the minigame will not start until all players point at the screen and press A on their Miis.
Space Zappers - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. When pointing your Wii Remote at the screen, you can also see your target shoot icon behind the pop-up message, but the minigame will not start until all players point at the screen and press A on their Miis.
Assemble Bots - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. You could possibly take advantage of this situation and just wait for the parts of the golden robot to appear and then press A to start the minigame when you feel like the timing is right.
Flock Shot - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear, and everything in the background plays as normal. This is also another way to take advantage of the situation and force all players to end with the same amount of points. Flock Shot is pretty interesting. The birds move into your camera view or away from your camera view for 30 seconds. When 30 seconds has passed, all birds stop moving. With this glitch, you can force the game to start when all the birds have stopped moving and have all players end with the same points.
Diamond of Mine (as GamePad player) - One of the most unique minigames to use this glitch on. If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear and the minigame will play in the background while the pop-up message is still there. If the minigame ends and you don't tap your Mii on the GamePad, you will not see the result of the minigame. As long as you tap your Mii at any point during the minigame, it will end as normal.
Diamond of Mine (as Wii Remote player) - If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear and the minigame will play in the background while the pop-up message is still there. If the minigame ends and all Wii Remote players do not press A on their Miis before the announcer says finish, you will softlock the game. If that's the case, close the game using the HOME Menu.
UFO Zap-Up - The best for last. If the glitch is done correctly, the pop-up message will appear and everything in the background plays as normal. This one is funny because if you wait about 40 seconds, all players will go past the rocket and run into the dark void. When all Wii Remote players press 2, the minigame will start.
UFO Zap-Up (GamePad View) - Just another point of view that you see when this glitch happens on the Wii U GamePad. I used a CPU Mii as the GamePad player to show what happens without the pop-up screen. I couldn't show the minigame because when the game starts, another pop-up message appears showing that the CPU is in control of the GamePad.
