Windows 8 IPv6 Router Advertisement Attack
Router Advertisement DOS Attack against Windows 8 Consumer Preview Release.
Microsoft confirmed that this vulnerability would be fixed in Windows 8 (but not for previous versions). As I demonstrate a sustained attack keeps CPU usage high, fills up the C: Drive, and knocks out Internet Connectivity.
Whereas Windows 7 would be rendered inoperable after only a few seconds of RA attack
CVE 2010-4669 details - The Neighbour Discovery protocol implementation in the IPv6 stack in Microsoft Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, and Windows 7 allows remote attackers to cause a Denial Of Service (CPU consumption and system hang) by sending many Router Advertisement (RA) messages with different source addresses
