Windows 8, Metro UI, Complete Walkthrough, Mouse and Keyboard, Meet Metro UI
Windows 8 Metro UI Complete Walkthrough.
After playing with windows 8 on my Acer Iconia Tab w500 it was time to install it on a Desktop with a Moues & Keyboard. So get ready this is going to be a very bumpy ride. Right?
I will use my video to navigate you through Windows 8. Well Lets Dig right in and no better place to start then the Login Screen. I will then show how to navigate around the Metro Desktop, and then onto the Metro StartScreen. Finally I will mix both Metro Desktop and Metro Startmenu.
*note; I refer the Desktop to Metro Desktop. There is a lot a of metro UI elements within the desktop, I would say it's no longer a Traditional Desktop*
Verdict :
I would safely bet that the New Metro UI and elements within the Desktop is very easy to use with a traditional setup, Mouse and Keyboard. The Pixel boards are the key to windows 8 whether you're using a touch interface or a Mouse for input.
Mouse & Keyboard 8/10
Touch Input 4/10
I found some major flaws with touch in windows 8. Some of them kill the experience to the point I switched my tablet back to Windows 7.
The one major flaw I found. On a tablet you are unable to bring up the bottom left StartScreen Preview. This leads to not being able to touch, hold and bight up the right click menu that holds all the quick access to most power user tools. I was unable to drag the desktop down by dragging to from the top. And getting the Atl-tab Manager on a tablet via the right side can be a bit trick.
Also working within the startscreen and advance options such as right clicking *in this case swiping* objects is not as quick comapired to using a mouse to do most things. I believe, instead of swiping a object down to bring up the right click menu. Why not just touch and hold to bring up the right click menu? After all that is how right clicking in the desktop is done, why not keep it consistent.
