Windows creates an index of your files so that it can find stuff faster making your system faster and faster as you use it.

With today's huge hard drives, the index can become HUGE. If you have an SSD, it can eat up quite a bit of space.

Well, you can trim the size of the file by removing some of the file locations it is going to index. Even better, if you have another drive, you can move the Search Index database to the other drive.

Be aware, it will take some time to rebuilt. Also, if you move the file to a slow drive, it could slow down your system.
