With Windows Phone 8.1, there's a new built-in functionality to create sub folders on your screen. You can place tiles with these sub folders and the phone will create a mini view of the tiles contained inside. It's a great way to save screen space on those tiles that you like to have available but maybe don't use that often.

Of course, you won't be able to see their Live Tile status but they are easily brought up for launching. I use them mainly to have direct links to web sites rather than having a tile for each site occupying it's own space on the screen.
