Wip3out Special Edition Porto Kora Icaras (HyperThrust Run)
Practice first video doing a run on the Porto Kora track on Wip3out Special Edition, before you ask, YES some cheats were used (I actually did forget to turn invincibility off, further videos won't feature that cheat)
What is the Hyperthrust Run Series?
Featured exclusively in WipEout 3 (Stylized as Wip3out) Hyperthrust is a way of majorly increasing your craft's speed, by holding down the R1 button on default button settings, your ship will be propelled at amazing speeds, this makes for easier runs on slower ships such as the FEISAR, allowing it to keep up with the quicker teams such as the Icaras and the Assegai, a flaw in the Hyperthrust system is that it consumes ship health, meaning that its use is limited to how much ship energy you have, its use is automatically stopped at 20.0% energy, therefore pilot skill is crucial in taking the most out of this feature, at the same time, irresponsible use of it may cause lesser skilled pilots to total their craft, thus ending their run, so Hyperthrust is to be used sparingly.
This run series changes that by applying the following changes:
- Hyperthrust is made infinite, therefore it uses up no craft energy
- The Hyperthrust button (R1) is mapped to the accelerate button (X)
With this, whenever you attempt to accelerate, Hyperthrust is engaged automatically, being permanentely activated, this makes the game run at insane speeds, making some courses partially unplayable.
This series is better attempted with the Special Edition of the game due to its improved physics and handling model (I personally found it easier using this version)
Ship used for this video is the Icaras, the fastest ship in the game, naturally the Icaras is a very hard to maneuver ship, demanding precise use of the airbrakes as well as careful acceleration.
Putting the craft on permanent Hyperthrust literally causes it to become a beast, extremely hard to control with seriously high speeds, made even higher by the use of Hyperthrust.
This series will attempt to span all courses with all ships.
Thank you for reading this very lengthy description! Hope you enjoy the video! :D
