WITWI - Gord, An Artistic Mess Of a Game [ULTRAWIDE IMPRESSIONS]

I think that Gord is a visually striking game. It ultimately falls short of delivering a comprehensive experience in successfully delivering content from all the pots it reaches in.
It tries to be an RTS but fails in enabling sufficient micromanagement.
It tries to be a colony sim but it fails in delivering metrics that do not feel bland and unintuitive.
It tries to be an exploration survival but it fails and implementing the correct criteria to make it a fun challenge.
It tries to tell a dark and interesting story but fails at delivering due to its inability to create interest and make the player invest themselves.
It tries to be a city builder but it is heavily limited on how much freedom it gives you within the confines of your palisade.
The voice acting is redeemable at parts but not perfect, but the animations and lip-sync are not quite well made. It is one thing to not worry about that when you are looking at the game from a top down view, but when the cinematic is zoomed in for a closer look, more attention to detail is required. Perhaps a very high level of detail illustration style narrative would have worked better instead of the cutscenes they delivered.
The resource collection is terribly slow. I wish there was a better mechanic of further expanding your light sources throughout your camp and further out into the forest in order to better help your villagers at completing their tasks.
Conceptually, and in theory, this game is right up my alley. The execution however leaves much to be desired. Maybe Gord 2 can expand on the good ideas the first instalment presented us with, and introduce new features that would benefit the game further.
