Stranded, Alien Dawn puts you in the shoes of survivors that need to survive in an alien planet and achieve their end goal. You have 3 scenarios to choose from.
Crash landing: You must survive long enough to achieve communications with ships that are passing by the planet you have crash landed on. One by one your survivors will escape the planet via rescue pods.
Trading outpost: You must collect and sell enough resources to make enough credits that will allow you to purchase the planet
Military outpost: You must set up a military outpost focused solely on strength and conquering the local area.
Each game mode plays out differently, with slight variations on what you can build and what you can mine etc.
There are some gameplay elements that have been omitted that make the game a much more enjoyable experience. Such as the need for water, or the need for your survivors to relieve themselves. I think this is a welcome change and I do not mind it one bit.
I really like the game graphically. It is fully 3D, the camera control gives you a lot of freedom on what angle and height you can view your settlement under, and the ultrawide support is perfect.
The crafting is not overly complicated either, and implementing electricity in your camp is more than achievable. I appreciate the levels of depth the game goes through, giving you options to manage your circuits and distribute power according to your needs, but makes it entirely optional. You can have day/ night cycles, thermostat controlled devices etc.
There are only a handful of things I would criticise about the game. Sometimes the survivors do not choose to store the food in the freezers or refrigerators. You must individually select each chest and prevent them from storing any food in it.
Furthermore, there are no "large chests" that you can craft and save yourself some space. On top of that, stockpiling needs to be accessed from either side, so you cannot have more than 2 rows attached to each other.
Lastly, I think the game speed could use another multiplier.
Overall, Stranded: Alien Dawn is a remarkable in my opinion survival base builder that hits the nail on most of the boxes that I personally require. The minor complaints I have about the game should not pose a reason to not try this game out.
