Wizardry 2 & Touhou Doom | Lilywhite Lilith: Cascade | No Failure Run
I've been doing BoA for the longest time, sometimes I forgot about the other things. Well, I do remember the other things, it's just tricky for me to pick between getting BoA finished first or postponing it for other things, delaying it to the point where it'll probably be the end of the year before I finally finish the darn thing. Sure, I could just do bulk uploads, but I already explained why this isn't a good idea for consistency. Have I mentioned that this recording was done in April, but I only thought to schedule it for today? Absurd.
Anyways! I figured that a break was needed so it's not just all BoA for this month. I've been snooping about for mods in my folder that seems to not have a lot of love, and in comes Wizardry 2 from Jekyll Grim Payne (yep, the same guy that did PainSlayer recently). Quite a lovely mod of wands and spell casting, though clearly a bit rusted from age.
A good chunk of the spells for instance no longer do what they're supposed to do. I suspect they're also not made with universality in mind, making mixing monster mods with it a further destabilization. I did it anyways here, but that's besides the point. Something else I noticed is that the spell casting voice doesn't match the usual Doom player noise, which irritated me to no end. At the end of it all, some adjustments had to be made. A lot of the spells are reverted to do varying levels of damage instead of absolutely nothing, within reason, and I decided to sort out the voice inconsistency by using my own. Not exactly an excellent grand wizard voice, I know, but it was enough to satisfy my need. Further modifications like high res sounds, sprites fixes, and so on continued, which ended up being the version shown in this video (of which I unfortunately can't release at the moment 'cause I'm bonkers for credits and I can't remember which packs I nick which from since it's been months since I did the actual modification).
The map? I don't have a lot to say except to play Lilywhite Lilith immediately. It's a pretty mapset filled with pretty architecture. Okay, I guess I should say that sometimes it can get hectic. The map before Cascade that's set on a boat with not a lot of room or cover to dodge projectiles is a bit godawful (I played it with HDest once, did not go well, had to do invulsphere breaks to get out of that one), but otherwise it's definitely up there with stuff like Lost Civilization (of which one of these days I need to finish the HDest NFR run of).
